I like these shampoos a lot. I use without conditioner, and overall my hair feels very healthy. Other shampoos will leave your hair maybe feeling smoother or more hydrated directly after, but I find that this shampoo has a better cumulative effect on my hair.

Clearly this shampoo bar works for some people! Someone else commented that they had hard water and maybe that's a big factor when considering this bar. I live in a place with moderately hard water, and both me (hair type: straight and coarse) and my spouse (hair type: curly and fine) had issues with the soap not lathering. It would just barely lather in our hands and once we tried to wash it from our hair, it was like our hair was shellacked to our heads. I gave my hair 2-3 weeks to "get used to it" as advised on the internet, but my hair did not do what it normally does when I can't wash it (get greasy). Instead, it felt like it had a layer of something on it and then, sure had a volume that I've never had before. . . but I also couldn't run my hand through my hair at all. There was a residue that was coming off my hair and onto the bristles of my brush. I think maybe the bar re-solidified to my hair under the water? Once I admitted it wasn't working, I washed my hair withy my sensitive skin soap bar and everything was back to normal and my hair was back to being silky and touchable!

Just good ol' plain soap made from ingredients which do hurt humans or the environment. Hair is super clean and rinses so easily. Avoid plastic bottles full of chemicals. This is a better way to bathe and care for yourself.
